The Summer Season of Financial Opportunity

The Summer Season of Financial Opportunity

The summer brings an opportunity for teenagers to make money as they are left with abundant free time. However, making money during this time may seem difficult as jobs can be hard to find. Whether it be local or professional opportunities, finding a job and making money are useful experiences for teenagers. This article is a guide to teenagers who would like to save up for something special or just make money while learning valuable skills.

Local opportunities can be a great starting place for teens that lack professional skills.

For example, jobs involving pet care (like dog walking or pet sitting) are great opportunities for teenagers trying to make money. Teenagers who live in suburban neighborhoods can find this job to be quite lucrative with the abundance of pets nearby. Simply knock on doors, offer your services to someone with a pet, and more often than not, it’s cha-ching!

Another local opportunity for teenagers trying to make money is lawn mowing. A lot of families hire lawn mowing companies but those can be quite expensive, so they are often open to an alternative source of lawn care. Again, simply talk to your neighbors and friends, inform them that you could provide them with this service, and once again, cha-ching! Make sure you explain to them how you can do the same job for a lot less money than lawn mowing companies.

A final local opportunity could be a lifeguard at a community pool. Being a lifeguard is a simple but reliable job over the summer. All you have to do is enroll in a lifeguard certification program, have the necessary skills, and apply at a local club pool or community pool! This job can be very rewarding for its pay as well as its stability because being a lifeguard provides you with work far more frequently than lawn-mowing or dog-walking.

Teenagers, in addition to these local opportunities, can also undertake a more professional job to earn extra money.  These jobs may require more effort with longer-hour shifts, but they are consistent and build work ethic. Some professional jobs recommended for teenagers include jobs at grocery stores and clerical work for businesses. The qualifications needed for these jobs are minimal (aside from being in high school), and should be easy, consistent money for those willing to put in the time and effort. Another advantage to these jobs comes from their abundance. There are abundant grocery stores around you, and they are all almost always hiring. Businesses that need clerks are also in high supply, for many businesses struggle with their financial numbers and could use your help.

These are just a few of the numerous money-making opportunities available to teenagers. Just remember to explore the many choices before deciding which to spend your time doing. After all, it is better to enjoy your job (even if it is for slightly lower pay) than to do something you dislike. Finally, it is imperative that the time you spend is productive and helps you grow as a future member of the working population.
